Riverford Scoops Double Whammy At Awards Ceremony

Riverford Organic Vegetables scooped two awards at the prestigious Devon Life Food and Drink Awards 2008. The organic veg box scheme was nominated in three categories and won Best Organic Product and Best Food Producer of the Year.
The awards ceremony was held at Sandy Park in Exeter and hosted by BBC Radio Devon’s Judi Spiers. The radio presenter asked representatives from Riverford about the secret to its success.
“Guy Watson has been growing organic veg at Riverford for over 20 years and we grow a really wide range of produce, from humble carrots and potatoes to herbs and exotic salad leaves. For us, it’s about flavour and making organic vegetables affordable and accessible to as many people as possible.” said Vitha Shepard of Riverford.
“Everyone at the farm is delighted that we’ve won two Devon Life awards,” said Guy Watson, Riverford founder. “These awards are voted for by the public and there are so many great producers in the South West – so it’s a real achievement. Thanks to everyone who has given us their support.”
