Competitions and Training Event

Perparations are underway for the 15th annual Competitions and Training Event, one of the largest occasions in the TUCO calendar. Delegates and Competitors from Universities and Colleges all over the UK are expected to participate in this prestigious event.

Of course, there are plenty of opportunities for socialising and networking at the event but the driving energy comes from the competitions and innovative training course. Excitingly, this year, TUCO has teamed up with Unilever Foodservice to present a brand new competition – The TUCO Knorr Chef of the Year. This competition is a unique opportunity for University chefs to demonstrate their individual skills, abilities and knowledge to come win the prestigious title

The TUCO Chef’s Challenge is always one of the most exciting fixtures at the event. Teams from all over the UK battle for the coveted gold medal. The quality of food presented continues to reach amazing heights and shows that University catering can compete with any other sector of the industry. Gold award winners will receive luxury accommodation and dinner at a Michelin Star Restaurant, They will also receive a Gold Medal, certificate, trophy and £900.

The National Training Event is a great opportunity for TUCO members to gain skills that will improve their commercial performance. This year’s course is called Managing the most Difficult Situations and focuses on the problems caused by drug and alcohol abuse and how to resolve issues of absenteeism and diminished performance.

TUCO/ CUBO Food Service Skills Challenge – This competition continues to go from strength to strength and is designed to test and showcase the special talents of our Food Service Staff. Competitors will need to use all their skills, abilities and imagination to provide a first class meal experience for a table setting of 4 covers.
