Glasgow University sets the Sunflower Standard
4th December 2007
The University of Glasgow has gained official Vegan Society 'Sunflower' Accreditation for their Hospitality Services, the first University in the UK to achieve this standard. The 'Sunflower' shows off the Glasgow team's skill in producing delicious, attractive vegan food - the universal language of the food world.
High quality vegan food is a great solution for University caterers, because it appeals to just about everyone - it's tasty, healthy, ethical and planet-friendly. This is because vegans choose to avoid all animal products - no meat (no red meat, white meat, poultry, fish, seafood etc.), dairy (no milk, cream, butter or cheese) or eggs.
Colm McBriarty, Business Development Officer at the Vegan Society said: "We were absolutely thrilled when Glasgow University approached us for our Sunflower Accreditation. They are the largest catering service to register with us, and their vegan menu is absolutely first class."
