Catering management in higher education: national report and toolchest
The quality of the 'total student experience' is an important consideration and a measure of success for all higher education institutions. Effective catering services can make a significant contribution to this experience. Maintaining this success requires senior managers to facilitate better integration and collaboration between core activities, catering and other support services to support continuous improvement.
This report and the resources in the toolchest are the products of a study of catering services in higher education. The study used the EFQM Excellence Model as a framework to identify the management issues: these are summarised in the National Report, which includes action points for best practice. The Catering Toolchest is available only on the web. It contains a wealth of additional material such as case-studies, benchmarks, checklists and model templates, as well as useful references and a bibliography.
